Don't Expect To Continue Working From Home In New York - wyrk.com

There are still a number of companies that have employees working from home. But don't expect that to continue for long. When the pandemic began, many offices were forced to shut down and send their workforce home. Luckily, a lot of them found that their workers, with the right technology, were able to do their jobs fully from home. It was safer for them to be there, so they just continued with business as usual with the workforce working from home offices. That's about to change. According to a recent study by Resumebuilder.com, most businesses are getting ready to bring their workers back to the office soon. They asked 1000 businesses if they had a plan to bring workers back to the office or if they would continue to let them work from home and a majority said that they were going to start requiring workers to come back within the next 6 months. As it is right now, 66% of businesses already have their workforce back. 90% plan to have them back in 2023. There's good news though. According to this study, most are not saying "come back...or else!" 88% of the businesses that plan to bring people back are going to offer incentives to make it happen. They're going to offer things like catered meals, commuter benefits, and higher pay. Then there are the 21% that do say they'll simply fire employees if they don't come back. I just don't understand why it's so important to have people HAVE to be in an office to do their job. If someone can successfully do the job that you've hired them for from a location that is more comfortable for them and can communicate effectively from that workspace, what difference does it make where they do it from? If someone isn't doing their job, then termination makes total sense. If they just prefer to not have to drive for an hour to get to and from the office, but they do a good job, why in the world would you want to get rid of an employee like that? 7 Things That Make You Wish Your Co-Workers Still Worked At Home Top Things New Yorkers Do After Work Friday
