Online retailer Amazon has come under fire after a shopper spotted pro-Russian t-shirts for sale on the site. Chris Baker noticed the clothing which included a map of Russia on a background of the national flag.

It then featured the words: "I stand with Russia". The clothing has now been removed from sale by the seller, reports Teesside Live.

Mr Baker, from Guisborough, told of his disgust at the clothing being available on the site. He said: "In light of all the issues currently, it seems disgusting that a business operating in our area is profiting from such merchandise.

"Disgraceful profiteering. Especially given the death penalty given out to two former UK veterans.

"It struck me as double standards, so many countries are boycotting Russia. They don't need a couple of pence. Amazon are making a few quid on a T-shirt - I thought 'surely not'.

"I was disgusted by it. I thought it was unpleasant. We are all out to make a living, I get that. But when you put the news on and see the big companies pulling out of Russia, it just riled me."

Mr Baker said he complained to the seller, who told him "in different regions of the world, there are different concepts of justice".

The company also sells pro-Ukraine items of clothing, including tops with president Volodymyr Zelensky's famous line 'I don't need a ride, I need ammunition'. It eventually decided to remove the pro-Russia T-shirts from sale in the UK.

Teesside Live has contacted Amazon for comment. However the seller, whose trades as Byairls on Amazon, told Teesside Live: "We have removed this T-shirt."

They added: "In different regions of the world, there are different concepts of justice. This is related to the local education, culture and politics.

"The justice we believe in may not be true justice. Justice is within the range of guns and artillery. If Russia does not fight back, the influence of NATO's eastward expansion will bring oppression to them. This is my view on this matter, not justice."
