Department Overview: Department of Statistics, see http://www.stat.wisc.edu Anticipated Start Date: As soon as possible Anticipated End Date (If Applicable): Remote Work Eligibility Detail: Not Remote Anticipated Hours Per Week: 5 - 20 hours per week Schedule: TBD upon hire Salary/Wage Range/Lump Sum: $12.00 - $15.00 per hour Number of Positions: 1 Qualifications: • Must qualify for Student Hourly employment • Must be able to work remotely, if needed (i.e. must have access to a computer with a stable internet connection) • Ability to typically work approximately 15 hours a week (mostly during the day on weekdays), with the possibility of scheduled duties mornings, weeknights, and weekends • Ability to problem-solve, make decisions, and work independently or with others as appropriate to the task at hand • Ability to communicate effectively and professionally with customers and coworkers both person-to-person and by email • Excellent time management skills • Strong basic computer skills Knowledge, Skills & Abilities: • Technical familiarity with modern computer systems • A strong desire to learn will be considered in lieu of experience in any of the above areas • An understanding of different educational, technical, and cultural backgrounds, in order to communicate effectively with our end-users • 2 or more years remaining as a student, preferred but not required Position Summary/Job Duties: Student will respond to requests for help from advisors and administrative staff in using statistics computing facilities. This may include helping students obtain access to computing resources and identifying aging equipment, and troubleshooting computer/application problems. Communicate with computer support staff about issues encountered with equipment or computing system.
