Thirteen year old Emily Pisano of Vermilion was realizing a dream July 30 while selling her art at Market in the Park in Vermilion.

For Emily, her favorite pieces started as an experiment.

“I found out that acrylic paint with a hairdryer looked really cool so I started doing it more,” Emily said.

This was her second year at Market in the Park where she was among the adults in her first year.

This year, Emily expanded to bracelets and earrings with other handmade jewelry. Some of the bracelets were made with rubber bands and others were beaded.

“It’s all different and experimental, all special,” she said about the jewelry.

She also offered the acrylic paintings, coasters and some home decor with beach glass.

She said that she’s always looking to expand her style and try new things. She’s done some driftwood art but hasn’t sold it just yet and said that she does want to sell it down the line.

Her most unique pieces were bowls made from pages out of magazines.

“I took EHOVE classes and they briefly showed magazine bowls, then I started doing them by myself at home and I started selling them,” she said.

When asked about what her dream was with the art she’s created, she said that she wanted to have her own Etsy shop at some point.

For Emily, Market in the Park is just the first step to realizing her dreams.

The youth vendor day at Market in the Park was one of the many special days presented at the event.

Of four more Market in the Park Saturdays in Vermilion, the “Chalk it Up” event is next Saturday followed by the Lions Club corn roast, which will finish the market calendar for the year.
