A microwave signed by boxer Chris Eubank Jr attracted a bid of £66,000 on eBay.
When Chris Eubank Jr was returning to his hotel in Newcastle after a training session last week, he didn’t expect to be asked to sign a microwave. He also didn’t expect that agreeing to scribble his autograph on the item would later cost him £66,000.
After learning the microwave was up for auction Eubank Jr, 32, pledged to match the winning bid with a donation to charity.
He tweeted “Been sent a link to an eBay auction thats selling the microwave I signed in Newcastle.
“No idea how much it’ll go for but to make this a more meaningful situation whatever the winning bid is I’ll match it and give the money to a charity of the winners choice.”
His classy gesture duly prompted frenzied interest as bids suddenly ramped up, and on Thursday night the device was seemingly sold for £66,000.
The eventual price clearly took the former IBO super-middleweight title holder by surprise, as he again reacted on Twitter
