An Amazon seller has removed pro-Russia T-shirts from sale after a Guisborough man slammed the site for "disgraceful profiteering".

Chris Baker spotted the tops, bearing a map of the country in national flag colours and the slogan "I stand with Russia", on the global ecommerce site. He complained to the seller, who told him "in different regions of the world, there are different concepts of justice".

The company also sells pro-Ukraine items of clothing, including tops with president Volodymyr Zelensky's famous line 'I don't need a ride, I need ammunition'. It eventually decided to remove the pro-Russia T-shirts from sale in the UK.

Teesside Live has contacted Amazon for comment. Chris said: "In light of all the issues currently, it seems disgusting that a business operating in our area is profiting from such merchandise. Disgraceful profiteering. Especially given the death penalty given out to two former UK veterans.

"It struck me as double standards, so many countries are boycotting Russia. They don't need a couple of pence. Amazon are making a few quid on a T-shirt - I thought 'surely not'.

"I was disgusted by it. I thought it was unpleasant. We are all out to make a living, I get that. But when you put the news on and see the big companies pulling out of Russia, it just riled me."

The seller, whose trades as Byairls on Amazon, told Teesside Live: "We have removed this T-shirt." They added: "In different regions of the world, there are different concepts of justice.

"This is related to the local education, culture and politics. The justice we believe in may not be true justice. Justice is within the range of guns and artillery. If Russia does not fight back, the influence of NATO's eastward expansion will bring oppression to them. This is my view on this matter, not justice."
