Amazon have announced an investment into India-based startup, ION Energy. This latest Climate Pledge Fund recipient develops software to improve the life and performance of lithium-ion batteries that power electric vehicles and energy storage systems.

Transportation is a major part of Amazon’s business and with their commitment to being net-zero carbon by 2040 the company is continuously expanding on ways to make their transportation network more sustainable. In 2019, Amazon ordered 100,000 electric delivery vehicles from Rivian, and this year in Europe, Amazon added 1,800 EV’s from Mercedes-Benz. Recently Amazon also welcomed companies like Mercedes-Benz, Convoy, and Uber as signatories to The Climate Pledge showing widespread commitment across industries such as the automotive, transportation, and logistics space

eBay Climate Action commitments recognised by SBTi – Amazon Selling

eBay is continuing their commitment to climate action by setting an ambitious greenhouse gas (GHG) target approved by the Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi). Direct climate action eBay has committed to reduce its own (scope 1 and scope 2) emissions 90% by 2030 from a 2019 base year, in line with limiting global temperature warming to 1.5°C– the most ambitious designation available through the SBTi process and aligned with the Paris Agreement. Value chain (seller) climate action eBay has also committed to reduce value chain (scope 3) emissions from downstream transportation and distribution by 20% in the same timeframe. These emissions represent the transportation of the goods shipped using its platform and eBay will work with logistics providers to offer low-carbon alternatives.
